The distinction that matters
The announcement concerns responsiveness inside the gaming system. Network ping describes a different part of the experience: communication with a remote server. A graphics upgrade does not automatically repair a poor internet route.
Our take: diagnose before spending
Watch which number changes when play feels bad. Frame-time spikes suggest a rendering problem; unstable ping or packet loss points toward the connection. Compare settings one at a time so you can tell what helped.
A VPN is not a frame-rate upgrade or a guaranteed ping reduction. An extra network hop can increase latency. Test your own connection rather than treating a marketing claim as a promise.
